How far over? If it is a millimeter or two you are probably OK. If it is like 5 millimeters you should get some extracted. If it is much over 5 millimeters you should get the bloke who flooded it to come and extract it for you - and not run the engine until he does.

With a measurement someone here can give you good advice.:)

Who is they? Is this a VW specialist that knows the oil requirements for PDs? Reading in these threads can give you reason to panic. Not just any good diesel oil will work in the PD. Look at threads here about cams and lifters - 2004 BEW Cam lifter failure report . Some have gone to the point of having oil that doesn't meet the VW 505.01 specification removed and replaced with the right stuff. This is a controversial topic. Also look at the sticky (at the top of the forum - "What oil do I use?" READ FIRST BEFORE ASKING [If my links don't work these are both is this Fuels & Lubricants forum]

Good luck

Summarizing from the Bentley eBahn manual.

As long as the oil mark is between the two bends in the metal of the dipstick you are within the limits.

There is a hash mark in that bent area. If below that you can add "not more than .5 L". If in the hash area you can add a little. If above the hash and below the top bend, do not add any oil.

VW states to run the engine up to temperature. Turn off the engine and let it sit for 3 minutes, then take the reading.

Hope that helps. If you are above the top bend in the metal you need to extract some of the oil out to get it below that mark.

Extra oil above that top bend WILL hurt your catalytic converter.
