check behind your side mirrors if you are in a salt use area.

Saw a behind a guys mirrors the other day. the connections to the glass were on their way out and the car had only seen light use in winter. good time to get some oil on the aluminum body for the mirror at the same time as they corrode up too.

But I think that's been an issue of corrosion since what mk4 mk5?

any bare aluminum will not last long for sure,, Mine are soaked in ACF50 now so will be fine now.

Yeah - my new(to me) Mk4...I accidentally just bumped the mirror shortly after getting it and the mirror housing broke internally. Pulled it off to take a look (and replace) and what (I assume) used to be metal, was just a pile of white powder. :(
