Hi. I have having all kinds of problems getting the driver's side mount and the dogbone mount lined up so I can bolt them in. I have tried a hoist, 2x4s, etc to move the engine around to try to make the mounts line up, but I haven't had much success.
I did get the driver's side mount to bolt up, but now the dogbone mount will not line up. The engine needs to go towards the passenger side of the car about one inch, but the engine will not budge. I did get the far end of the dogbone mount to bolt up to the transmission, but it is cocked way to the side in order to make that happen. I tried using a ratcheting strap to pull the bottom of engine towards the passenger side, but it will not move. (instead it moves the whole car)
I am doing a 5-speed swap. My car is a 2003 TDI Jetta Wagon. The 5-speed transmission is from a 2005 TDI Golf. Everything that I have read says the transmission from the 2005 Golf will bolt up to my 2003 Wagon's engine.
The dogbone mount is brand new and the top part of the driver's side mount was never removed. I did replace the bottom part of the side mount with the aluminum piece from the 2005 Golf since that part of the mount is different between the 5-speed and auto.
Did I install something wrong? Maybe the middle side mount piece? It seems to be installed correctly.
Thanks for your help!
