Passat TDI SE no trunk pass through door

I just bought a 2015 Passat TDI SE and was disappointed to discover ot did not have the trunk pass through door. I thought this was odd, since my basic model 2010 jetta had one. I was feeling the pass through door area (the inside the trunk side) and it felt like the accesd door was there under the carpet. I could feel something that felt like the latch and lock.

Is the door under there if i cut the carpet? Has anyone converted a non pass through rear seat to a pass through? It used that feature a lot in my jetta.

It's the stupidest thing ever - you have to open the trunk to pull the latch to let the seat fold forward so you can get in the trunk.

Whoever thought this was a good idea should have sat down and kept their mouth shut until that idea went away.
