09 Jetta
Just bought an 09 jetta and the heat does not work. Haven’t put a temp gun to it to see if the coolant lines going into and out of heater core are hot yet, but was wondering if there is any common issues with these with no heat like the temp switch going out or something along those lines.

Possible clogged heater core. Super common if the coolant has been mixed with non-OEM type, but post-Dieselgate cars (some more than others) are also susceptible to this.

I would check the HVAC module for DTCs first, but generally on a 2009 Jetta that stuff is usually fine.

The heater core is accessible through a little access panel near the pedals.

Not hard. Biggest issue is trying to purge the coolant out of the old one before you remove it so you do not spill coolant all over the carpeting.

The blend door actuator isn't far from that access panel. You might as well twist the knob while your head is down that way to verify it's working.
