Did you pay sales tax on the net, or on the gross sales price of the 2016?

There's been a lot of discussion here about whether we can structure it as a trade-in in order to save the sales tax (in most states which allow that). And the consensus answer was that it wasn't possible.
3.0 settlement specifically has an option for Trade In. It can be used only when purchasing replacement vehicle from same dealer as you are doing the buyback at.

Which makes you wonder why the 3.0 settlement had that provision but the 2.0 settlement did not. Maybe they just didn't think about it until after the 2.0 deal was done and 2.0 owners complained about it. It's no skin off of VW's back, it's the states who lose sales tax revenue.

I paid taxes on the net. My net sales tax was based on after the trade was deducted. I don't see why if a TRADE is offered that the consensus is that it is not possible. What is the purpose of a trade then? If you live in a state where, if you have a trade in the trade amount is deducted from the sales price of the new (or used) car and you pay tax on the difference, then that applies here. The thinking behind giving you a sales "credit" for your trade is that you ALREADY PAID SALES TAX ON THE TRADE WHEN YOU BOUGHT IT.

I just bought a 2015 zero mile Golf TDI Sportwagen for $18K. The S model so bare bones options. I got it from the VW Gallery Group in Norwood, MA.

I did not buy the Touareg. I put a deposit down on an A6 TDI

Is that car still a stop sale? What year? I am looking for one for my sister.

Damn great deal, can you tell me which dealership and if they have any more?

Why not buy her an A7 for less money. I have a peach for sale.

PS, no, there should be no more stop sale in place.

Elgin VW in Elgin, IL. They had a Reef Blue and White one still available. Mine was $4k cheaper than both of those due to it not having the driver's assist package (radar/lane control) which was fine with me ($56k msrp vs $59k).

They were good to work with! It looks like they raised their prices by $1k on those two since I bought mine.

Salesman was Shawn, he was great to work with. His cell number is 847-962-4377 if needed.

Original web price on cars.com was $39,999 on mine. Final purchase price was 41,900 after destination charge and some BS discounts (veteran/recent graduate) I wasn't eligible for. Those one below was listed for $44,900 when I was looking at mine.

Thanks for the info. The only thing I am looking for is a 15/16 White Exec with Tan interior. Wife loves the combo and "needs" the heated steering wheel. :)

I talked to a local dealer yesterday that had that combo, they were nice enough to come off their $64K MSRP ask by a whopping...$3K. The 14 Exec in silver with 27K miles will work just fine!

Give it time, I have a feeling their prices will all come down similar to what I paid for mine (10-15k under msrp). I just don't see them selling many for the standard 15% VW discount, but I could be wrong!

I think they are nuts, honestly.

Exact same vehicle 700 miles away (in California) for 15% off without any negotiation. Silly

The heated steering wheel is standard equipment on the 2016 Lux and up.

My 2016 Lux doesn't have it that I can find? Don't you enable it in the climate control screen? There is heated and A/C seats in mine, but I don't think it has a heated steering wheel.

Nope, they moved it from the climate control screen after 2014, probably because the system is slow to boot up on chilly mornings. it's now a button above the screen.

It's official, my 2016 Lux doesn't have a heated steering wheel. You guys did get my hopes up though lol. No button above the screen. It must come with the drivers assist package which mine doesn't have. Looking at the 2016 Treg links I posted above, they do have the heated wheel button (with drivers assist).

Maybe that will sway your wife to a new Lux model psd1! The A/C seats are a nice addition to the new models as well

That is good news that they are an option in the lux. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm quite happy with our 14 honestly. :)

I don't blame you! The 16' has some nice little upgrades/changes that only an owner of a previous model would notice, but nothing wrong with the older models

After driving the A7 with the tech package I really desire the Advanced Cruise control and lane keep. Still amazing that the 2014, a $60K+ car didn't come standard with blind spot monitor...

Agreed, the 2016 Treg has the large blind spot monitoring lights on the inside edge of the mirror housings. I didn't realize mine was going to have that which was a nice surprise. I would have liked the lane assist/adaptive cruise (and heated wheel) with the drivers assist package, but not at the $5k price tag. I might have done it for 1-2k.

Any new pricing stories on any Audi PC's (A6/A7/A8)?
I'm at 20% off sticker on a 63k car, so ~$50,400.
But had I bought the car new and paid sticker and taken the Audi money (minimum $10,656 and the $1500 Bosch money) that comes out to $50,889 - so it really doesn't seem like the best deal.
Anyone got better than 20% off?
