Because a lot of people have the fill tool that connects to the bottom like the factory one. It fills a lot faster that way. The top fill works good, just reaaaaaallllllyyyyyy slow.

I did my second DSG service (80k mi) last evening utilizing a home make set-up outlined in a previous thread. Basically you purchase a filler plug, drill, tap and install a hose barb. Add six feet of clear tube taped to a funnel. Hang funnel from open hood's latch. Quick cheap easy. John

And then waste almost $15 worth of oil.

Check oil level before emptying...
Measure
Refill with slightly more from top.
Start, let run for a minute or two,
Remove plug
drip..drip..drip..
Replace plug
Done

Just saved $115 or $15 and countless trips to the hardware stores.

Plus a whole lota $$ if the fools thought they needed VAG COM to pull a temp range that could be estimated by an infant.

Yes the tube is nice and fast, but the top fill is slow, cheap and easier.

I can't believe how much material was stolen in that writeup above.... What a fraud..
