Just bought and love the CPO mkV1 JSW, 6m. Thinking about mkVII for the wife. What 4 motion (all road?) combo's are available in what year?

I would be concentrating on newest possible, AWD, and preferably diesel with manual... probably a unicorn

Doesn’t exist. Unless you go with a BMW or buyback Audi/Porsche, you’re not getting diesel and AWD.

The 328d Wagon is what you’re describing however.

2015 Passat SEL, 2017 Alltrack SE; BB 2010 Sedan Man; 2012 Passat,
2019 Alltracks SEL with 1.8t are now available with a manual in the US.

GSW with same drive line can also be had with 4Mo just lots less creature comforts, they are comparable with GSW S. Same platform as the 2015 Mk7 TDI, just don't expect to get much above 31-32 mpg unless you keep your speeds under 55mph.
