Default Is this normal?

Just bought a 2000 Beetle with TDI, 104,000 miles. Everything seems to work real good...but if I floor it it goes up past 4k rpm or so and just hangs there for a while with no acceleration, then shifts and pulls real hard for a while til I hit the high rpm. Its got real good low end grunt, much faster at 3/4 throttle than all the way floored.....what do I need to look for? Or is this kinda normal. I remember driving a 2006 TDI and it felt like this...but now I am not sure. Thanks.

Ours did the same thing, now the tranny has slipped between 3 to 4th under hard acceleration.

Taking it in for a auto trans fluid and filter change.

Have you had the tranny serviced?

DON'T BELIEVE THE STEALER'S STATEMENT THAT THE AUTO TRANS FLUID LASTS FOREVER. READ THIS THREAD.

The trans was serviced right before I bought it. Did this fix yours?
