Filled up today and added a 5.25 oz bottle of Lucas fuel treatment.

As soon as the "new" fuel hit the engine I could hear a change in tone. Sure seems to idle quieter and smoother. Similar to when you add 2-cycle oil. Performance seems to have improved some, though I can't be sure.

I see the treatment bottle in many car shops and always wonder if its snake oil they are selling or if it does help to some degree. So you put the contents in the tank before filling it up and you could tell that fast?

It's best to put any additive in before you fill to ensure thorough mixing.

Yup, as soon as the fuel in the tank reached the engine the sound changed.

You must have a great ear and the stuff must really do something
Keep us posted on mpg and other relevant findings.

The sound change was not subtle. MPG changes are hard to determine with warmer weather and my variable driving conditions.

I used Lucas in my first TDI (the 2000 New Beetle) off and on and to be honest could never tell any difference in how my car ran with or without. That and the poor performance on the Spicer study made me question the product use.

Sounds similar to how I felt when I began using Opti-Lube XPD. Have never changed and never looked back:D

After dipping back down to the mid 20s to low 40s for temps, I can tell ya this stuff does nothing for cold starts like a cetane booster does.
