Hello there,
I own a 03 VW Golf TDI Automatic,

I drove it up a hill, normally I gun and it's fantastic.
Yesterday I gunned it. It only went 40 kms. that's it.It wouldn't go any faster.
Now my engine light is on.

It's semi ok on the flat roads but I don't feel the power as much as I used to.
I will be taking it to a shop but I don't want them gouging me as I am a woman... I still know a bit about cars but sometime folks don't get it...

I was thinking it's either the airflow sensor or maybe the carbon buildup?
I normally drive highway, and I had my intake for carbon buildup cleaned out in 2012... (hope it was done right....)

Never once had I replaced an airflow sensor.

please let me know thanks,

If the problem came on suddenly (full power one day, low power the next) then carbon build-up isn't likely the problem. Carbon build-up creeps up on you, slowly degenerating power, so you just never notice it...

I'd take it somewhere to get a free scan first - that way you'll at least be informed as to what is causing the CEL.

Yea, get the free scan and come back and tell what the DTC, digital trouble code, is and then we can give some free advice.

Well. I went to Duane's ! fantastic place folks. very honest and genuine . !
I replaced the MAF sensor and there was a issue with one of the valves.. it was great. they just had to fix that it was all done.
so far so good. I will definitely drive it more and see if anything happens
