Just got the latest Princess Auto flyer in the mail (Princess Auto is to Canada what Harbor Freight is to the US). Next week (28 Jul to 16 Aug) the Maxitrip Auto Computer (looks like a ScanGaugeII type of unit) is on sale for a hundred bucks. Check out http://www.princessauto.com/tools/automotive-tools/diagnostic/8237844-maxitrip-auto-computer
I don't have one but if anyone can't afford a ScanGauge, perhaps this is a cheaper alternative.
By the way, I love my SGII. I think my eyes scan it for fuel economy more often than I scan the speedometer.

Beware.

I have tried 3 of these units now and they turn off after about 20 seconds of no button contact. IE They do not have a continuous display on when the motor is running!!

The only adjustment for the screen is for contrast.

If you follow their links on the internet, they also claim to manufacture the ScanGauge II out of China. http://www.bridgat.com/scan_gauge_3_in_1-o54797.html

Save your money and get an actual ScanGauge II!!

You will not regret it.

I just got my maxiguage to-day.It worked the minute I connected it .i Used it to cancell my cel. my Maxitrip won't shut down as long as the engine is running. If the engine is not running it will sleep in about 20sec. not a big problem
