I'm wanting to purchase some good splash guards/mudflaps for my 2005 A4 GLS TDI. Does anyone have any recommendations of something that will hold up in Winnipeg, MB winters. I travel a lot to Saskatchewan as well and end up driving on some gravel from time to time. Any recommendations and why you recommend them would be appreciated.

Thanks
Scott

I have had the VW aftermarket mudflaps on my Golf for 4 years now. They have not cracked or chipped yet.

I like them because they are durable and they integrate nicely into the car. We ordered them from VW Driver magazine.

Get the OEM ones from your VW dealer.
They are molded to fit the contour of the fender and very resistant.
Never had problems with them after four harsh Quebec winters...

splash guards

I bought a generic triangular shape splash guards from the local auto parts.
mounted on front used the three bolts that already exist there.
fits right, looks good, work well and they are flexible and give
unlike the oem style. Best of all they were much cheaper then oem.

I have the VW on front very nice - but I wonder how much the mileage is reduced when we apply air brakes. :)

Does anyone know what VW part #s = the fasteners that the A4 mud flaps are attached with? I think I need three for one set and four for the other (front/rear, respectively, IIRC).

I got a used set of 4 and the stealership was spectacularly unhelpful (surprise) in helping me ID the fasteners. "I dunno, we just sell the kit"

TIA,
Mike

If you buy a set from VW it comes with all hardware. I bought a used set and had to find my own hardware. I ended up using under-body screws and under-body metal brackets. They are used to attach the stock plastic skid plate to plastic side skirts.
