can anyone help? Code # P1557 from an actron cp1925 obd ll
turbo charger control limit exceded. i call to get this is from actron.. other info includes, (from autozone's pc data)
1 failed charge air pressure sensor
2 failed wastegate regulator valve
3 failed turbo.

i know it is not the turbo, the car run ok, slight lose of power at highway speeds 65plus, no smoke.

2000 tdi jetta with 260K.

Your 2000 shouldn't have a wastegate. The downfall of the generic scanners is lack of specificity.

Unfortunately, the troubleshooting involves using vag-com, which it sounds like you don't have access to.

One thing to check/replace that is fairly inexpensive are vacuum lines, often the culprit and a good starting point if they have never been replace.

thanks, from the 2000 high milage tdi that was under maintained new to me and from a new-bee. i have a lot of info here to research and do. is there a discount tool and parts site you guys use? i did purchase a haynes manuel for a base line. i am a shadtree mechanic with a dodge cummins. i need to learn the terms as well as specifics on the site ie a4?? the intercooler is filthy with oil, a good place to start! i found this while looking for a wastegate reg valve that i don't have. THANKS!
