Acura TSX Diesel

If the release date is true, then it could well be likely that the TSX diesel will arrive before the Jetta TDI diesel does. Based on what I've seen, the TSX is not that much more than a fully loaded Jetta.

Goes to show that VW really dropped the ball on this one. Talk about being a year overdue.
Jetta TDI wil be here this fall. It will be the first diesel for sale and a lot cheaper.

Just because the Subaru has an auto does not mean that you can't do anything about it. I'm pretty sure they are going to include some sort of shiftgate so at least anyone can play with it a bit.

As for the Jetta TDI, it may be here in the fall, but the C&D article states that the TSX diesel will be here in the SUMMER (that's how I'm reading it). So that means that despite the headstart that VW got with its new diesel engine, Honda just beat them to the punch.

I don't see anything in the C/D article about summer. No one has brought a 50 state diesel yet, it probably has something to do with EPA/CARB. That's why almost everyone is quoting the same date for 50 state diesels. Also an interesting fact, manual transmissions made up 8% of all cars sold in 2007.

Just picked up the 2008 Carguide Buyers Guide. It listed the estimated price for the '09 Jetta Wagon as follows;

2.5 $26,000 CAD, city N/A, Hwy N/A due to bump in hp no doubt
2.0T $30,500 CAD, city 10.1 L/100km (28MPG), Hwy 6.8 L/100km (42MPG)
TDI $33,000 CAD, city 7.1 L/100km (40MPG), Hwy 4.8 L/100km (59MPG)

$7,000 premium for the TDI over the 2.5 :eek::(

The dealer also told me that they won't be available until October '08. They didn't know if it would be an '08 or '09 model year. Logic dictates that they would call it an '09 by that release date.... but we all know that is in very sort supply.

Those MPG est. are way off . the fat a$$ jetta with the 2.0t will never see 42 mpg.i bet the TDI is 42 MPG hwy and 35 city. there is no way it gets better fuel economy than the PD as it uses extra fuel that dosent add power to clear up the emisions. I cant wait till it comes out and everyone is gripping about how they wish they got good MPG's like the PD's just like PD owners say about the VE's .

MPG quoted in Imperial gallons is 20% higher. So, 42 MP(Imp.)G equals 35 MP(US)G.

I just re-checked the magazine, the MPG are measured in miles per UK gallon (Imperial) NOT U.S. gallon.

The estimated price seems to be based on a premium over the Jetta GLI.... I think someone goofed over at the magazine. No way would it ever sell at such a premium. It would take an enourmous amount of time to get a return on investment.

I love the fuel efficiency of my 5sp VE, 5.6 L/100km city, 4.4 L/100 km hwy.:D It may not have as much power as the PD or the new common rail but it is good enough for me.

c'mon people, HERE is the official Canadian pricing! I posted this over a week ago! We have 2009 Jetta TDI sedan, Jetta 2.5 wagon, Jetta TDI wagon, and Tiguan 2.0T gas pricing already. It's an even $2k increase for the Canadian model with TDI.

As far as the Carguide estimates, 7.1 l/100km = 33.13 mpg (US) and 4.8 l/100km = 49.00 mpg (US). Still, I wouldn't bank on it. I'm still confident that we'll see mid-40s/mid-50s in the US model.
