2001 Rear Axle Replacement ?

Hello,

I think the right rear axle is bent since when I turn the hub with the rotor on it the rotor seems warped.:( I ordered new rotors as I thought they were the problem at first but after installing the new rotor it does the same thing. No noise from the bearings just the warp issue. So this must be the axle stub needs replacing. Right?:)

Is this quite difficult?

Should I buy a used axle/bearing hub complete from a wrecker?

It is a 2001 Jetta TDI.

Thanks and I really think this is a Great Forum.

I thought so too.
But was wrong.
If your only securing the rotor with the screw it will not sit flush against the hub and appear warped when you rotate assembly.
Put on the wheel and properly torque bolts, then rotate wheel and see if the tire looks like it is wobbling.
Hope this helps.

Oh, and as far as replacing the stub and hub as an assembly...
No joy, as the bolts that hold the stub onto the axle are not removable with the hub/bearing in place (and bearing cannot be romoved without destroying it).
When I got hit in the rear by an Explorer the stub didn't bend! The axle did!!
