2000 TDI Beetle with not functional hood release. Is their easy, or other way to release hood latch to evaluate problem?? Any suggustions on probable cause. The only addition I'm suspicious of, is addition of Bra. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx, cruiser

Most likely the hood release "hook" has started to corrode or the release cable is damaged in some way (pinched).

If you can get the hood to unlatch but not open then you may be able to get a screwdriver slid into the front latch and open the hood.
Working infront of the car slip the screwdriver into the latch / hook and tru to move the hook towards the driver's side. With a bit of luck you can get the hood open in this manner to evaluate the problem.
