Hello Everyone!
Quick question and I did look at other posts (briefly)

Here is the skinny:

When driving and coming to a stop, sitting idling...
I am smelling a mild to moderate burning oil smell coming from my vents.

I do not think I am in re-gen due to the following:
(heat not on, my AC was off, and no changes in idle or weird sounds from exhaust)

Anyone else have this???? Car is running and driving beautiful and this is the only problem so far. When I start driving again the vents blow fresh normal smelling air again.

Thanks for your input.

Yeah. I have the exact same thing. It's not very strong but it's definitely noticeable.

I can also confirm a regen isn't happening when I smell it.

I wonder if its a messy oil change job? the filter is not in an easy place to get to.

Good suggestion cane929....
I did inquire and make sure they changed the oil and filter before I took delivery.
I am just at 129 miles total (bought it with 57)... I'll give it a tank or so of fuel to see if it "burns off" / "cleans up" the smell.

yeah I had a similar smell when I took delivery. Seems like it has gone away for now but I only have 500 miles on it.

Maybe the heater core has some oil residue on it from the manufacturing process.

Figured I revive this thread with an update:

I am currently almost through 500 miles since I took delivery and I am still smelling the "burning oil" smell when I come to a stop. (or sit idling)
I think it's a little better, but still noticeable by myself and any passenger.
As soon as I start moving or keep moving there is no smell that I can detect.

I am going to give it another weekend and if it is still stinky I am going to take it into the dealer.

Other than the oil smell.... I am super happy with the car!!!!

Same problem here. Just had it at the dealer and they found no leaks of any kind. Bit of a mystery. Glad to hear for some it's going away.

VW and many manufacturers used to use cosmoline to protect the cars between factory and sale. It was generally removed by pressure wash before sale but a lot of it got up in places that didn't get washed and burnt off during the first several hundred miles. It smelled. I don't know if they use it anymore but I'm sure they use something. I put 1200 miles on in a little over a week. I've noticed several regens during that period and I do get a faint odor if the windows are down.

My bad for not updating.... Just closing the loop....
I am sitting at 2,5xx miles now..... burning oil smell is completely gone.
I think it started to reduce at 1k but at 1.5k it was completely gone.
Happy camper!
