Filled up again because I changed the fuel filter, added Diesel Kleen and Motul Specific...wanted to see what that would do for me...then I get caught in a 50 minute traffic jam...this tank is going to hell as well...

Edit!
***? I thought I had all the info in. I put in the 8 because I knew it would be over 800 miles and the 15. because I knew it would take more than 15 gallons. Looks like I forgot to update the notepad doc when I got back from lunch. Just copy/pasted like a fool. Oh well.

Commute is 63 miles one way. Half 45-50 MPH backroads, half 65 MPH (I do 60) I95.

Just wish my commute was longer...

This tank was mostly from my wife driving to/from work on the local highways. Swapped out the original injector nozzels that had 242772 miles on them with new (stock size) at ~300mi into this tank and it runs *much* better now. :)

Ummm... That would calculate out to be 120 gallons to get to work, another 120 to get back home. :D

Mower than you wanted

Driver: Lug_Nut
Miles: 1.68
Gallons: .53125 (68 ounces)
Model Year: 1988
Model: Bolens DGT1700H
Tranny: Hydrostatic (infinitely variable automatic like a CVT, but operator controlled)
Fuel type: B50 / WVO50

Note: I mismeasured the fuel in my prior post. The measuring cup has a 12 ounce capacity, not 16. I actually used 4 ounces (0.03125 gal) more than I posted.
John, It might be just as easy to make this fill-up 72 ounces (.5625 gal) to compensate.
Also, no big surprise, but a slower rpm in a higher ratio significantly cut the fuel usage. The prior mowing used .8828 gal to travel 1.66 miles in 52.5 minutes with maximum engine rpm and an average travel speed of 1.8 mph.
This mowing used .53125 gal to travel 1.68 miles in 49.7 minutes using a slower engine rpm but highest travel ratio for an average travel speed of 1.9 mph.
Operating distance is within .6%
Operating time is within 3%.
Operating speed is within 3%.
Yet fuel consumption was reduced by almost 40% by running the engine (and blades) slower.

drag raced a fake type R, almost won. Probably could have if I shifted properly instead of just blowing soot. Did some other bad driving. Thought the tank was shot till the second half. Then it started to look a bit better. (yes, I drove around the gas station once to get it to that nice round number, but only once.)

First tank on some new Bio 2 I just found. The best part is, it's only 2.999 a gallon, and regular D2 is 3.129. So I'll save 10 cents a gallon AND get B2. Doesn't seem to have affected my mileage. I'm starting to use AC now, so I'm expecting my miles to stay the same or maybe drop over the next couple of tanks. I'll soon start adding some Poweservice again to see if that works well with the B2. I'm trying to change one thing at a time so I can tell how each effects my car. The only bad thing is that I have to wait at least a few tanks (at least a month in these cars) in between testings. So it's a slow process. I also want to start using 506.1 oil, but still have a gallon of Mobil Delvac 1, so that will go in next, and then 10,000 miles later I'll be able to try some 506.1. So it will be another 6-8 months before I can try that.

Early fill up so the wife would have a full tank to head St. Paul, MN. I have switched back to D2 after loosing 2-4 MPG with Bio Diesel.

I think it was the air cond. that done me in.
Headed off to Pensacola with Mrs. Thermographer and the 2 daughters, who need the A/C and have no worries of the June Monthly Mileage Competition.

3) 338 miles / 7.276 gallons = 46.454 mpg
4) 595 miles / 13.302 gallons = 44.730 mpg
5) 363.9 miles / 8.919 gallons = 40.8 mpg

I solved that problem. Got my wife into a tdi of her own and showed her to the competition. Now she understands (and tries to turn on my air conditioner while I'm not looking to run down my mileage).

Hope you have/had a good time in Fl!

Damn, I just purchased a new 06 for the good fuel economy then I get on this June fuel economy section and find that maybe I should have purchased a Honda Civic hybrid. I don't think my new Jetta will ever come close to those numbers. Around here the 87 octane RUG is about 20 cents less than D2. That seems to make it even a better deal.

I guess I should have got a Honda! ;)
