My intro service ended last month. Sirius wanted me to renew for $155/yr. I let it expire. Now they're offering half off; $77/yr. I didn't listen to Sirius very often but I'm thinkin' about it at this level. Should I hold out longer? Will they go lower yet?

$77 per year is the lowest I've ever heard of them offering for a one year contract. It might be possible to do a little if you are willing to do a three years contract or something like that.

Have Fun!

That is certainly tempting. I am still on the 90 day trial, and I do enjoy being able to listen in remote places. It will be interesting to see what they offer when it expires.

did they only offer 90 days for '11 models? with my '10 GOLF i got 6 month free,
started June 6th, still working fine,
looks like it will expire Dec 6th, and im really mad because Howard Stern ends on Dec 15th or something, and i was hoping to get the very end of it w/out having to renew
unless its announced that he's staying, then i might renew

$77 is the lowest I've heard of. My 6month free intro expired a few weeks ago, they've started the process of begging for my business again, I'm gonna buy when they 'get their heart right' and the price hits $77. :D

You can get $29.99 for six months or $77 for a year. Their repeated calls have turned into harassment and I called them back to let them know that. It seems that they may have just now taken me off their list after two full months. This past week I was getting 2 or 3 calls a day from their call center. VW gave them my cell number which made it even worse. Even though I can block numbers on my cell it still rings for a half second every time a blocked number comes in (Android).

I'm not in a hurry to renew. SD card + BBC podcasts + library audiobooks keeps me busy for my 2 hours a day in the car.

i just received a letter begging me back. 5 months free for $19.99 on a month to month renewal or 6 months free for a mere 29.99 but the catch is that you keep it so they can renew for full price at least once at $77.00/year. Not into Sirrus so much. not doing it.

www.audible.com that I do pay for and podcasts are free.

When it came time to renew for the second time back in July, they wanted $180 for a year. The sales rep tried to get me to buy a "lifetime" subscription for $400+. I asked her twice for the best deal. She dropped to $250/yr for 2 years. When I said I wanted to cancel, she transferred me to another rep to complete the cancellation, but that rep offered me the $77/year.

I may go 77 A year If they offer it to me other wise they can go blow. But I do dig Area38, Good late night Dance DJs rock out hard. Also I dig DJ premier on Hip Hop nation.

Has anybody had luck getting Sirius to throw in the traffic service at $77 per year, or a reduced rate for that matter?

I almost renewed at the $77 offer. I started complaining to the rep that I did not appreciate all the blathering that goes along with the music, the announcers feel the need to pontificate endlessly about all sorts of nonsense. I particularly have a problem with the moron who goes by the name of "Madison", on the new wave channel. She drives me nuts, I can't stand to listen to her for more than a few seconds. I told the nice young lady that I have a problem paying for this crap. She then told me that for $99 per year I could eliminate all talk, just music all the time. I wanted to know why it should cost more for less, after all they don't have to pay the turkeys to yammer on incessantly. She had no answer for this, so without further ado, I backed out of the deal. The sound stinks anyway.

I would do $77/yr, or $30 for the 6-month deal. It usually stays fixed on "Watercolors" Jazz anyway, so I might just download 10,000 Jazz tunes and use the SD slot. No breaks, and no waiting for a song I really like.

I have never had Sirius. One of my friends totally digs his subscription. I just got a new vibrant galaxy phone from t-mobile. I can get Pandora on it, plug it into the cassette player on the monsoon, it rocks! When I get a phone call, pandora cuts out, the phone call comes through the car stereo. Very cool so far. It's not really free, but Im not paying pandora for anything and I can download from the web all month for $15.

So there isn't any confusion it is "lifetime" of that radio not lifetime of the listener (or transferrable to other radios.)

I understand where you are coming from, and I too dislike Madison (she is also on Alt Nation). Since my subscription expired 2 months ago, I listen to the music that is on my iPhone and Pandora via Bluetooth streaming. Cheaper and no DJs. :) The only downside is I don't get any exposure to new music - just have to do more legwork on my part.

I'm still in the trial period. Does a Sirius subscription work for multiple radios, say, one in the car, one in the house? I don't see any such feature mentioned on their website, but thought I'd ask to make sure.

Thx,

Skip

I have received numerous phone calls and mail offering $77 a year, but I continually tell them I won't re-subscribe until they fix the sound quality. Funny thing is they always say they have never heard this problem before.

I really don't think they could price it low enough to convince me to re-up. So-so sound, the stations I listen to have limited variety, and I get annoyed every time the signal drops going under trees.

I was listening to the Sinatra channel today, and these chics were yammering on ad nauseum about superfluous drivel. And they want us to pay for this sacrilege?!

What has this world come to when bunch of broads think we would rather hear them flap their gums than listen to Frank?

Get me my Scotch woman, and iron my shirt while you're at it.

The antenna in the VW is much worse than my F350. VW drops the signal much more frequently. Ford will rarely lose the lock.

I was able to negotiate $68/yr last January, but my complimentary subscription on my new car is about to expire and I plan to let it go and use BT Audio with Pandora and my MP3 player. I also have the Sirius App on my phone if I want to stream some of their stations but I'll likely just get used to not having it as we have in our Passat B6 equipped with XM.

At some point I would like to upgrade the head unit and try HD Radio.

For that reason alone (exposure to new music), I'm seriously considering reupping. Since I've been listening to AltNation and XMU I've gotten back in touch with new music. Missed that with my busy schedule. Hey, without it I wouldn't've known who the hell Beach House was when they opened up for Vampire Weekend a few weeks ago. ;)

So here's a fun one....

Driving into work this morning, listening to NPR on the FM radio when I hear the "bong" artist/song alert; I look down at the stereo and sure enough “Channel 21, Phoenix”. I tap the button and I get a "Subscription Status Changed" message, which I acknowledge and now I'm bopping along to Phoenix on Sirius.

I never renewed, they don't have my credit card info...so is this another demo period or maybe a mistake?? I'll take it, for as long as it lasts. :D

How long have you been without your trial subscription? Mine expired 6 weeks ago. I got a few calls before it expired, which is when I told them I would renew for $77. At that point in time, they weren't willing to honor that price, so I said "Never mind, then. Give me a call when you are willing to sell it to me for $77, and I'll renew at that time."

Surprisingly, I haven't heard from them since. I would have expected Sirius to be all over me to sign up by now.

I just kept cutting them off and telling them "not interested". They only called me a few times. I'm not usually that much of jerk, but I never use it and they were pushy the first time.
