Hey guys,
I am going to replace the automatic transmission fluid and filter on my 2002 Jetta MK4 and since the fluid level checking procedure say the oil has to be between 35C to 45 (95 to 113F) I want to know if the OBD FUSION APP can tell me the temperature.

Or how can I create a gauge for it in this Fusion App.

I also have VAG COM LITE on free version, can I check the temperature of the transmission oil on the VAG COM LITE free version?

THX,

Isaac

FLUID LEVEL CHECKING PROCEDURE
Now start the car and go into the transmissions data blocks under transmission with
your VAG-Com and go to block 005, this will display fluid temp.
-ATF temperature not above approx. 30C (86F)
-Vehicle level
-Selector lever in "P"
-If ATF is below 30C (86F) bring the ATF up to test temperature.
Test temperature: 35C to 45 (95 to 113F)
-Remove ATF level plug from oil pan.
If ATF drips out of hole:
ATF need not be topped up.
-Install new seal on plug and tighten to 15 Nm11 ft lb).
ATF check is completed.
If ATF does not drip out
-Remove plug from filler line.
-Fill with ATF until ATF runs out of level hole
-Install new seal on plug and tighten to 15 Nm (11 ft lb).
ATF check is completed.

Yes. 2002 should be an 01M (or similar AG4). So:

[Select]
[02-Auto Trans]
[Meas. Blocks]
Group 005. The first field should be the temperature.

I see that you are located in Panama. I am guessing that if you are starting with a a transmission that has been sitting at ambient that you will get to test temperature (95 to 113F) very, very quickly. Basically, body temp (98.6F) is where you want to be; like checking someone's forhead to feel for fever. When you do this check you need to have everything all set (Funnel in place with fluid ready to add if you are low, overflow plug ready to put back in). You do this check with vehicle running, and once you start it the fluid will get warm enough quite quickly.

I tried measuring the atf temp today during a fluid change.
The measuring blocks on the transmission page stayed blank for many minutes.
This made determining the accurate fluid level an impossibility.
Any ideas?
