Diesel prices are on the rise. Here in my neck of the woods (SF Bay Area) diesel used to be .30-.50 cents LESS than regular gas. Today it is about even or running .10 more. I filled up at Rotten Robbies in Livermore 11/09/2009 for $2.93/gal

And look at that Today I am a "Member" and no longer a "Newbie" :)

In the last 2 1/2 weeks I was in CO , KS , MO , IL , KY , TN , VA , NC , SC , GA & FL . D2 varied from a high of $2.82 in CO , KS & FL to a low of $2.65 in MO , KY , VA & TN .

Over the trip I paid an average of $2.75 . I got BD ( marked as B20 ) twice for $2.75 in TN & $2.79 in Ill .

Hi Gang, Just paid $2.84 at my favorite station here in central Massachusetts. Just wondering what you all are seeing.
Go to the petrol station directly across from Oxford High School, across from the new police station and down about 10 yards (in central mass, aprox 12 miles South/West of Worcester on RT 12)....today, 11/17/2009, in Oxford MA, diesel is only.....cha ching.....$2.79/gal!

Go to Malloys in Cumberland, RI...get some biodiesel for less!

I have been in One state for the last several weeks, although all over the state. I have seen prices as low as $2.75 (route 99 truck stop north of Stockton) and as high as $3.15 Chevron in San Francisco. My last fill up was at my regular place Rotten Robbies in Livermore I paid $2.93. It will be over $3 before it begins to come back down. Such is life.

Over $3.00/gal on Long Island :(

But, gas has gone up as well, so it's all relative.

Luckily I filled up in Jersey last time :) Hopefully won't need fuel until I see Jersey again.

I just got some diesel here in Salinas,Ca. for $2.89 a gallon at the local Shell station. Right now they have the best price per gallon but are usally they most expensive around here. Yep, fuel cost goes up here during the winter months as well.

2.83 at my favorite Chevron in Santa Ana, CA on 1st and Newhope. Last week it was 2.89.. going down! Don't think it will stay that way though. Most stations are hovering around 3$ with the highest price being 3.29 at Shell in Fountain Valley...

It goes up relative to gasoline. But it also goes up and down in conjunction with crude prices, and last year crude, gasoline, and distillates including diesel were all still declining from the mid-July '08 peak.

I just read recently that distillate and diesel supplies are at 25 year highs, how does that relate to supply and demand? Mild November and the farmers that I know are pretty much done in the fields. Seems to me the refineries are using diesel to help make up for the lack of profitability of gasoline. RUG-D2 .32 price difference here.

I would disagree that farmers are nearly finished with the harvest. When I drove across northern Illinois ten days ago, there was a lot of standing water in the fields and very few cornfields had been harvested. Since then Missouri, SE Iowa, and much of Illinois has had very few dry days. Only in central and western Iowa is the harvest even close to completion.

But there is plenty of diesel and prices around here have fallen a few cents/gallon in the last several weeks. On the futures markets, heating oil was only about 3.5 cents more than RBOB regular gasoline Wednesday.

The next weather-related change in fuel prices will occur with the first really cold weather in the Northeast.

Illinois has had a lot of rain in the last month, Wisconsin (Madison) until today had 4/100ths of an inch so far in November with a lot of warm sunny days. Costs a lot to dry corn so some farmers let it dry in the fields which works great until the first big snow comes along. $2.85 for D2 here, no real reason for it to be .32 a gallon higher than RUG when it is so plentiful IMO.

Right now December '09 heating oil is about 1 cent/gallon cheaper than December '09 RBOB regular gas. HO was about 5-7 cents higher than RBOB only 7-10 days ago. This is probably due to high distillate stocks, a perception that China's recent purchases give them adequate supplies, and because of mild temperatures in the Northeast US.

$2.859 seems to be the best price I can find for diesel in San Diego.

RUG price has been dropping ever day or every other day.

Today's best RUG price is $2.689 a gallon. The station that was $2.739 on Saturday is down to $2.699.

Near my home, the ARCO at Miramar Road and I-15 is still at $2.899 for RUG and Diesel is higher. But the ARCO near my work has been dropping the RUG price about every other day. This morning it was $2.799

Hey, 4 of our 5 cars still use RUG.

John Jackson
96 Passat B4V (37 mpg - doesn't seem right- but what I get) E-codes to see at night. GQ ecu and soon to be chipped. Then comes a 5th gear mod.
91 Jeep Comanche pickup (Lets not talk about MPG, it is a WORK TRUCK).
2000 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 (20-21 mpg on the road, 17-18 in town)
2003 Camry 4 cyl. automatic. (up to 32 mpg on the road, 25/26 in town).
1989 Camry V6 LE (my dad's last car - still running great and looking great after 3 generations of family ownership).

Regent gas in Valley Center in SD County always has extremely good prices. Downside is they only accept cash and its a tad out of the way. MSN is showing Regular there for 2.359 they don't show their diesel price right now but they do carry diesel.. its usually 30-40 cents less than anyone else - I am not sure how they keep prices that low but it IS the cheapest place in So. Cal. Hope that helps.

Diesel has been pretty stable for the past few weeks hovering around 3$. Highest I've seen is $3.299 in Fountain Valley and the lowest being $2.799 at a 76 in Aliso Viejo.

Valley Center? A tad out of the way? Unless you live there, the only reason to go there is to get to the Indian casino.

If gas is very cheap there, it must be because it is not taxed as much, because it's located on an Indian reservation. I don't see how they could charge so little at the pump, even if there are no state taxes. So unless you actually saw that pump price with your own eyes, there's a good possibility that someone has posted the wrong price online. Isolated stations like that usually charge higher than normal prices
1) because of higher costs to deliver fuel so far out in the boondocks, and
2) because they can -- no competition.

AAA says the average price in California is around $2.93 for RUG and $3.01 for ULSD. For San Diego it is $2.94 and $3.01. Gas Buddy says the cheapest RUG is around $2.68-2.70, at places like Costco and Thrifty, Mohsen's and the Navy Exchange. The cheapest diesel is around $2.85 at the usual places.

Since you are in that part of the county, then the cheaper stations are:
1) ARCO at I-5 and Tamarack in Carlsbad
2) Mohsen's at two locations in Oceanside - one is right off Hiway 76 on the road to Fallbrook.
3) 76 at Hiway 78 & Sycamore in Vista
4) Several stations off Hiway 78 at Rancho Sta Fe Rd exit in San Marcos.

On Thanksgiving paid $2.73 for diesel @ Sunoco. RUG was @ $2.56. That's a great price for Mass. Usually it's $2.88 for diesel & appx. $2.69 for RUG.

Diesel's been holding pretty steady around these parts at about $2.85-2.89 range. I've seen a few stations that were $2.79 for diesel, but they are too far from my house to make fueling there really worthwhile. Meanwhile, gas has been holding at about $2.59, and saw a few stations yesterday that were down to $2.51 for gas. All in all, though, prices have been pretty steady here for a number of weeks.
