Show and Shine

Yes, we will be having the traditional show and shine.

After great deliberations, the classes will stand as follows:

A3 (Jetta)
B4 Passat/B4 Passat Wagon
A4 Golf
A4 Jetta/Jetta Wagon
New Beetle
B 5.5 Passat
A5 Jetta
Other
People's Choice

Since the PD engine now crosses body styles, we feel that we cannot justify a separate 'PD' classification. As always, a vehicle's mileage WILL count during judging.

**It should be noted that any front end conversions (Getta or Jolf) will be judged in the class it would have been in if the chassis were still 'factory'...Gettas with the Jettas and Jolfs with the Golfs...

I can tell you about it in general...but Fred would have to give specifics.

Overall: condition of the exterior, interior, wheels, engine bay, trunk...

It's good to have a list of mods available for the judges especially if your car is NOT stock.:)

As I said before, mileage is considered as well.

Well if you are in the A4 Jetta class, make sure your car looks like crap. I hear that helps out.

Show and Shine Trivia

Did you know that a highly modified, super shiny car has just as much a chance of winning a Show and Shine award as a high mileage daily driver?

It's true, it's true!

In fact, the highest mileage car in the show last year took the coveted People's Choice award. Correct me if I'm wrong, that little white A4 Golf had well over 200,000 miles on the clock.

Don't let the fact that you have no expensive mods keep you from joining the fun of the Show and Shine! You NEVER know who'll come out on top!
(I know even I was surprised once...)

Absolutely! See me and I'll sign you up and give you a registration number...

BTW, we instituted the small $5 show fee this year to help offset the cost of some cool awards...

Actually, it had WELL over 300K on the clock AND was completely stock. VERY clean car. I apologize, but I can't remember his name. I DO remember that he drove out to WI from California though.

Cheers,
Jeff

Update 7/14/06
Registration for the Show and Shine stands as follows:

A3 - 1

B4 - 1

A4 Golf - 4

A4 Jetta - 8

New Beetle - 1

A5 Jetta - 1

The A4 Jetta class is always highly competitive, but as you can see there are deficits in certain other models. It won't take much effort for some of you to come home with a great prize!

Join the show today! (or on site in Philly - see Hamsterdiesel)

I'm looking into getting the rust fixed on my trunk lid and driver's door. That and my milage may give me a chance :)

Yup so last year my mileage of just over 12000 didn't help me as I think I came in last place. But then I was do lazy to wash it as I was beat from messing with waxing it the day before. I think I had more bugs on the thing due to a two-hour freeway drive. I entered it at the urging of the fellow passat owners. Of course the wheel scrape my wife put on one of the wheels didn't help. I will have it renovated by the next time I make it to a fest. I won't be coming this year. So I have a year to get things cleaner than clean and a few mods done! Of course there should be extra points given to a black car as its a bigger pain to ready than nearly any other color. ;)

Extra points given to cars who have the following dealer mods ???

1 - Dealer has put wrong oil in car 3 times
2 - Dealer rebuilt the entire front end and then scratched up the sides
3 - Dealer wrecked engine with BG EGR cleaning procedure and rebuilt it
4 - On their 3rd Main Battery Fuse Assembly
5 - Swirl marks from Dealer Car Wash
6 - On 3rd Antenna mount

Hmm - Maybe by September, a few more "mods" and I might win. I'm thinking each of the above mods should add about 40k of mileage to my car :D

My car recovered from coolant migration... and still bears some battle scars... Fuseable crimps are everywhere on the harness!

My poor paint doesn't stand a chance against Hampster's Zainoriffic shine. Hmm. I wonder how good that clear ICE wax stuff works...

Yes, black is a wonderful color

I don't know about Zainoriffic, but Ziebart is the cat's meow - best investment I ever made. Still looks showroom new on the outside, but when you open the engine compartment ...

   (need a sound bite here for Bach's Tocatta and Fuge in D minor - you'd know it if you've ever heard it - esp around halloween)

Like I said - dealer installed mods

Hamster is full of it! That car still shines. I don't think she is capable of driving it any other way..................

I'm in for the SnS this year (and that's not short for Stop and Shop!) My zaino products are dwindling, I think I need to reorder! - M
