Roof racks options

Does anyone know if the Audi roof bars are interchangable from the q5 to q7? I see lots of q5 bars for sale & if you look at Thule, they take the same part #. $100 audi roof bars sound a lot better than $450 for Thule or Yakima (before i buy a new roof box.)

For '15 I see two different part #'s. '13-'15 Q5 - 8R0 071 151 AB; '07-'15 Q7 - 4L0 071 151 A. '17 on Q7s - 4M0 071 151. The Q7s appear to have a different clamping method than the Q5s

The OEM Audi bars are not adjustable (width). If the Thule ones you are looking at are adjustable that might be how they accommodate both models.

I have never tried any carrier bars on either of our Q7s so take the above for what it's worth.
