Contact info?

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and to TDI's and would like to reach Tom regarding a new used TDI I just bought that needs some love. I sent him a pm, but don't know how often he checks in. I'm only in his area for a limited time so time is of the essence. Can someone please pm me his phone number and/or email?
Thanks!

Thanks for the good work!

Just wanted to give a shout out to Tom and Turbo for getting my new to me TDI in good working order. Tom did full timing belt service, suspension and brake overhaul among other things while Turbo patrolled for treats. I just drove the 99.5 Jetta from Richmond, VA to Prescott, AZ and it ran flawlessly averaging 46.5 MPG at about 75 MPH. My first TDI and a lot more fun to drive than the Prius I'm giving up for it.

I drove about an hour and a half each way to have Tom dial in my ride and am very pleased with the results. He patiently walked me through the steps of each procedure and even let me lend a hand from time to time. I would recommend his services to anyone looking for a skilled TDI specialist who is honest and fair.

Thanks, Tom and Turbo!

Hi Tom,
I've been trying to get in touch with you about the wagon, but not getting any response. I left you a voice mail on 9/23 and sent you a pm on 9/25. Please get back with me as soon as you get a minute as I'm only in town a little while longer. Really want to make a plan with you on the wagon.
Thanks!

Last I saw Tom on here, he was selling cars for others not working on them

OK, Tomo, thanks for letting me know. I won't take it personally then ;). I do think he still works on cars though. He did a bunch of work on mine a few weeks ago. I spoke to him last on the 18th about another project. Ironically, it's also a 96 Passat :).

Howdee folks.... life has been pretty weird here lately. To clarify misconceptions, I do not sell cars for others. If someone asks me if I know of a car for sale, I do send them a TDIClub or CL link if I know of one and then let nature take its course. I don't chase after either the buyer or seller, I try not to get involved in the deal and I do not add a "commission" to the price if the deal goes through. Most folks who contact me about a "good car" and the cars I send them links to could be hundreds of miles apart from each other or from me and I don't see either end of the deal. Occasionally, a car gets dumped here that a friend wants to sell and I am in that position now, but I'm not selling the car, the owner is. When someone posts their "assumption" of what another person is doing and that assumption is incorrect, well, you know what assume means right ?

Tom; Somehow, I am not surprised that you are not selling cars. Your USMC direct approach would send most buyers running for cover and a sales manager to drink, & probably very heavily drink.

Glad to read that you are well. Sadly, I think life has been "weird" for many of us recently. This economy is no fun.

Another Good Experience down Stafford

Hey all -- I just headed down to Stafford last week to fix a broken glow plug and also get an ALH cam / lifter replacement at 224K miles. For the record, I'm the one who spun the glow plug on cylinder 1  in my haste to change them about 30K ago, and after this visit, I'm soo glad I didn't compound that error by trying to drill it out myself.

Tom has a full kit of highly specialized tooling to drill it out, retap threads, and recut the glow plug sealing surface -- all of which we utilized. For a very fair price, he took a couple hours to do the job right, and verified the results along the way. He even fixed some of the problems I caused, and sent me on my way with a resistance-matched set of glowplugs, and finally, no CEL!

Tom also recommended a cam replacement after my last TB job due to some odd wear marks on the cam and a few lifters. I brought my cam kit and he swapped them in very methodically, all the while providing good maintenance tips along the way. I left with a list of a few things he identified that needed attention that even I could handle. Thanks!

I highly recommend you utilize this resource of TDI knowledge if you are anywhere in the area. You will definately learn a bunch! Just send a PM to reach Tom..

Tom did another timing belt replacement on my PD today - all wrapped up in just over 3 hours with both of us doing some wrenching (him more so than me) along with Turbo supervising :)
All the reviews here speak for themselves, but Tom is as methodical and complete as ever and it's always a great learning experience working with him. Thanks again Tom, enjoy the new Eurovan!

We're back from SC for a few weeks, then back down there again to tidy up some legal paperwork.

This guy lives across the street from me in a little swampland. Looks like he had fresh breakfast.

Hi Tom! You did my timing belt a while back and now it is time to get the clutch and EGR cooler done. Can you shoot me a PM with a rough idea of what it would cost to get those taken care of?

clutch

Hi, check your pm please. I have for a long time had access to a lift so yes, I now do clutches too. My first post was edited a long time ago to reflect that.

Mr. Tom is AMAZING! Dealership quoted $2800 for what they "thought" was the problem. Instead, took our Golf to another shop, where we have always received excellent service. For well over two weeks and $600.00, they were stumped as the the car still didn't run. Found Mr. Tom via this forum. Towed our beloved Golf to him and in less than two hours he had her up and running like a top. Mr. Tom is a Golf TDI Marvel and he is thorough and knows well about what he is talking. Cannot thank him enough for saving our baby!
