euro tuning sells it for $29.95, but since I'm a new 2015 Passat owner I'm not sure if it resolves anything. I'm not seeing any issues with my RNS510 at version 5378.

Has anyone done the upgrade to current firmware (5382) from the 5378 version and seen a benefit?

I did buy v12 (May 2018) N.A. Maps from an ebay reseller for $18.00. He's located in Bulgaria, but what he's offering seems legit. Here's the listing:https://www.ebay.com/itm/2018-VW-Vo...M-2018-RNS510-NEW-ACTUAL-VERSION/302987304320

It's schedule to be here in early June. I suppose customs is why the delay. After I receive it and load the new maps I'll let you know.

It seems that Version 12 is a bit long in the tooth. The newest version is V16.
It appears nobody is selling a higher than V12 version.

Just type this into eBay :

V12 is the latest US map update. 5382 will fix a few issues found in units with 5378. I’ve repaired a lot of them in the past few years.

JohnTso,

I'm interested to hear how your v12M map purchase goes. I'd like to be able to update my map database as well. I upgraded to 5382 from 5378 and there were some slight changes, I don't feel the urge to rip the unit out of the car each time I start it up. It mainly had to do with the rear view camera, and it will come on after only a few seconds if booting cold vs random times up to 45 seconds.

DVD from ebay reseller didn't work. Format was unrecognizable. He offered to send another or a refund. I opted for the refund. FWIW - DVD label looked legit and had all the proper marking and part numbers.

I have tried the upgrade and while I did think it *might* have sped things up ever so slightly for a day or two (probably just imagined) it is still woefully slow and prone to freezing for 20-30 seconds at a time. My personal opinion is save your money for a new aftermarket head unit.
cheers.

Not the right forum but does anyone know if the current 2019 Passats have "normally" responsive nav systems - meaning, like the rest of the automobile industry? I'm finding it more or more tedious - the rear view camera only coming when you're driving forward out of the parking lot – or the navigation booting up only after you've driven 5 blocks and made 2 turns. I love the car but the 510 is a joke.

What SW version is your 510 running? I'm running SW 5378 and HW H27. That said, I do tend to have my destination/waypoints preset so the NAV boot time really doesn't bother and it catches up quickly.

If I need to use backup camera I tend to put it in reverse immediately after startup with parking break set and foot on the brake. By the time i get my seat belt on, situated and scan the instrument panel the BU camera is ready to go. FWIW - I adopted this procedure because I notice the camera lag time after shifting into reverse.

Works for me.
