Can this be fixed? Glovebox door/latch handle

Hi all,

I searched for a while but couldn't find any fixes for my issue. The handle is fine. I'm missing a pin, but I think I can find something similar to the other one.


I don't feel like spending $200 for an original one. Some on eBay are $30+ but I'm not sure if they are compatible with my old style box (2001 Golf). The new one is 1J1857121A and websites say it's for 2002 or later only.


Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I know AARodriguez had hinge repair kits, not sure about latch. If they don't have a kit, I think you're SOL..... try your luck at a junkyard, but I've found that most VW's come in there with broken glove boxes and armrest lid hinges. I did luck out a while back and found a good one, it didn't work on my son's '01 Jetta, but worked perfect on my '03 after my latch did what yours did....
