Anyone else wish VW didn't put that chrome strip on the newer model Passats?

We absolutely LOVE the look of our 2013 SE, and a brand new Passat is probably the leading contender for the replacement once ours is bought back.

But I just can't get over the stupid chrome strips doing down the sides and on the bumper. Really brings down the visual appeal of the car.

The chrome differentiates the SEL from the lower trim levels on the 2012-2015 models. I *think* it was an option (or standard) on the SE in those years as some/all SE's have it as well. Know you don't want to hear it but to me it looks better with the chrome strip.

Sounds like you are looking at 2017's - the S trim level appears to not have the chrome strip while the SE / SEL's do per VW website. So if the chrome strip bothers you that much get the S. Could get SE or SEL and pull off the chrome strips - if there are no locating holes for the strips you're good to go. If holes are present put strips back or have a body shop fill them in. As you can see, you DO have options here!
