YIKES! One of the worst showings I've had with this car. Lots of A/C use, stop-and-go city driving*, and shorter than usual trips...being unemployed, I don't have a 19-mile one-way commute anymore.

*Don't get me started about how the state, county, and cities around here conspire to make it impossible to take freeways from one side of the Valley to the other on the weekends. Quite literally every freeway route from Mesa to North Scottsdale was shut down for construction at one point last weekend when I was trying to get to my friend's house. One freeway at a time, people!

Hi I am new to the Fuel economy contest. This is my first tank. I filled early ( at 600 miles)as I have a scanguage and wanted to calibrate it on the first tank. I have had the Jetta for 2 years, but it has been my wife's car. My normal daily driver has been a 2007 Prius. I recently completed a 1000 mile tank at 84.4 MPG in the Prius. It is now my pleasure to drive the Jetta for the next few months. I hope to do better on the next tanks. Hope to see you all at TDIfest and in the TDIfest fuel economy run.

Not much driving for economy, got a rocketchip tune and having fun testing it out, numerous WOT runs up to 80 or more :D Just getting used to how the car runs now. Not bad mpg considering the fast runs.

Go back and read post 1 - particularly " Please do not go back and add additional fillups to a post." . It's not so bad now because I haven't put together the first sheet yet (probably will tomorrow) - but after that....

A new tank distance record.
A new economy record.

And I could have gone a LOT further... in fact, I could probably have made it the 90 miles to home, and become member to the 900 club, but one doesn't pass up Exit 104 on 95 in Va without fueling.

This is my first post on this topic, but was so thrilled with the results. My car was loaded with my two boys and me, our stuff and their gear for camp. This trip was almost all highway with the cruise set at 74 mph. It happened in July, but we just got home.

With the cooler weather I have been driving with the windows down and no AC. This fill-up was also on 8/1/08 and not today. Sorry for the late post, I have been away.

This trip I went without AC and drove exactly the speed limit as indicated. Finally broke the magic miles number at 51+ mpg.

Actually two fillups, both after chipping the thing. Slowing a bit, but mostly 70-80 mph highway miles.

A little disappointed that my TDI has not broke 50 MPG yet because of head winds and or heavy rains, however, I am starting to feel pretty good about the mileage it’s getting even under poor conditions.
