2001 tdi 2001 and jetta 2000 tdi

I live in Fremont New Hampshire and am looking for a TDI mechanic. I have a 2000 jetta w/109000 50 mpg that the check engine light comes on about a minute after starting the car. I have a 2001 Jetta w/115000 51mpg that the check engine comes on sporadically. The main problem is acceleration. I have the problem before and replaced the mass airflow as recommend by this website. I replaced the mass airflow and the acceleration only increased about 25 %. Help

You are not particularly close to either mrchill in Braintree MA, or Herm TDI in Richmond ME.

Sounds like one or more glow plugs are bad or the glow plug harness itself is broke.

What would a few hours drive be worth to you... fuel is cheap - bad mechanics are expensive. Either mrchill or herm will make it right for less money than you think.

But if acceleration is the problem, you may need to clean your intake manifold. My mechanic told me that he'll take out two large coffee cups of junk. there is a great step by step in the how to's. good luck
