I got this annoying ENGINE WORKSHOP warning and flashing glow plug symbol each time I power on the car with this VCDS error:

16955 - Brake Switch (F): Implausible Signal
P0571 - 000 - - - MIL ON

It is a Touran 2.0 TDI, DSG 140 HP from 2004.

The error went on and off for some time, so I replaced the brake light switch, which seemed to help for a while, but now again the error has returned, and is present all the time, no turning off.

I have tried clearing the error, but as soon as the power is on it returns.

The brake switch is working, I got light in all three brakelights, and the brake symbol on the dash works.

I tried looking at fuses, but did not find any blown.

The cruise control is not working, when this error is present, which is very annoying.

Please advise me, where to continue. Thanks

UPDATE: Switched back to my old brake light switch made the problem disapear, so it must be the switch afterall.

There are 2 contacts in the brake light switch. One for the brake lights and one for the ECU/CC.
