Is there such a thing as a "Honest AC Tech." In Maryland?

I need my AC checked. Don't want to go to a Dealer without getting an Honest Appraisal of what is wrong.
It is pretty hot these days.

You say you need your A/C checked, but what exactly is wrong? Is it not blowing cold? Not blowing at all? Making a racket?

It is not blowing cold. I don't know if it is the compressor or not since it does not kick in. Maybe a fuse??

It's not going to "kick in" if there's no refrigerant.

All systems are the same and I bet you can Google a symptoms list.

Check your low pressure to ensure you have enough r134a. You can buy a guage and refrigerant at most autozones, NAPA, adavance, ect. When you add a little refrigerant, the compressor often starts working. R134a won't harm the ozone layer, but it is much more toxic to the skin/lungs than r12.

Depending on where you are in MD... I know of one near Abbotstown PA. But yeah you should be able to check how much r134a you have in the low pressure line with one of the cans that comes with a gauge on it.

Maryland is a big state. Where are you at ?
