For maintenance and repairs that you do not do yourself, which shops do you trust to work on your car?

New Dimensions in Santa Clara, Autowerkstat in San Jose, TomasTuning in San Pablo. These shops are general, gasser oriented shops (although I'm sure they'd be able to do stuff like TBs, etc). If you meant diesel or TDI specific, let me know when you find one...

Larry, I would trust John at German Auto Body(?) on De La Cruz (sort down the street a couple blocks from ND) to do any body/frame work on any of my VWs. He's not inexpensive, but his work is top rate. There's another one in Sunnyvale someplace that all the German Iron guys take their $$$ toys to for body work, but, they sneered at my lowly Rabbit GTI once, so I've conveniently blotted them from my mind. They also had a reputation for good work.

I hope it's not you that needs work done?....

Unless a miracle happens in the Bay, I am driving to Capistrano VW every few months for servicing!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah, its me. Some guy hit me while I was sitting at a red light on saturday. It's not bad, but there are some deep scratches on the bumper around the license plate and all and it needs to be fixed.

Autowerkstat in San Jose. Period.

Chris Lagattuta does excellent work at fair prices. He was The Man at New Dimensions. After he left, Tim Hildebrand's shop (ND) took a dive. Tim's now considering consolidating his shop with somebody else. Any work that I don't feel comfortable performing myself I give to Chris. I send my parents there. He won't jack you around. He gives good advise too. He's not a diesel specialist, but he does specialize in VWs and he knows how to fix things on TDIs. He'll have no problem changing your timing belt and adjusting your injection pump.

Yeah, I'd like to back up Gary's endorsement, also. I've known Chris(and his work) for over 16 years and he's a perfectionist. He's "good people."
