I need to replace the Coolant Outlet Flange on my 1998 TDI (I broke the small plastic pipe that connects this unit to a rubber hose that goes up to the coolant reservoir). Looking for some basic steps to replace this unit, and is there any need to purge resultant air pockets with coolant? Would refilling the reservoir suffice? Thanks.

There are just too many to list....
It is a pretty simple job, the neck will come with a seal, but you will need to get the seal(s) for the sensor(s) seperately.

Only use the spring-type clamps on the hoses, as worm-type can cause leaks or worse a cracked nipple.

Top up with G12 coolant/water mix.
