Has anybody experienced erratic fuel tank fill problem. Overall, all miles driven I have averaged 51.4 mpg. Each time I fill I let the nozzel shut off three times. With the car in the same position at the same pump I have noted fill averages on occasion yielding 44.2 then the next 68.1, or 45.5 and the next 67.2. Then for a while I hit right around my overall average. Anybody know the reason for the wide swings??

I suspect you can get much more consistent numbers if you do the "vent trick". (try a search for gobs of info and opinion) Using the same pump and car position is a plus, but venting the tank to the brim each time will minimize the variation between fills. I've vented every tank for nearly 50k miles with no issues. (Some have the opinion that venting is a waste of time, but I'll let you be the judge). Hope this helps...

Add: BTW, welcome to the club...try to be careful which topic heading you post under though.
