Automatic transmission, 83,620 miles. I have owned it since 44k. New timing belt and glow plugs at 79,000, new battery at 80,300. All repairs/maintenance since I've owned it done by VW specialist in Wheaton, MD or by VW dealer. I have records since 44k. Elsbett 1-tank conversion kit installed 8 years ago however I continued to run it primarily on diesel b/c I had to move and no longer had a basement for collecting/filtering WVO.

See craigslist for pics: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/cto/4638126435.html

Car is in Frederick, MD, about an hour from Washington, DC or Baltimore.

Runs great. Body & interior are in good shape.

Last oil & filter change at 81,013. At same time, multi-point inspection by dealer turned up the following (can send copy of this & all records under my ownership upon request):

- front strut mounts showing wear
- good tread depth, front/rear brake linings more than 50% remaining, good battery performance. No leaks
- "windshield wiper concern will require attention soon"

All other inspection results ok.

My primary VW mechanic has also noted torn boot on left tie rod end, not loose yet. Also AC is broken (refrigerant hose has hole where heat exchanger from Elsbett conversion kit made contact with it). I chose to live without AC. About a $900 repair.

The sunroof did leak once on my watch & water came in under the seats. Cleaned it up and had sunroof repair done.

Engine light sometimes goes on in cold weather. Mechanic has changed thermostat twice, that didn't fix it, otherwise he's stumped. Could be Elsbett hack has thrown off diagnostics. Smarter heads can chime in. I'm not a mechanic.

Cosmetic issues: got keyed along right side; yellow paint scuff on right front bumper from bumping parking post; back bumper has a lot of scrapes; about a 3 inch ding along bottom of door, right back side; rust-colored water stain along bottom and sides of driver side mirror; light scratches on door jams from mounting kayak on top; pen-sized hole in back passenger seat (from previous owner).

I'm selling because I moved to Mexico and can't register it there. I've put so few miles on it because I used it mostly for recreation and running errands, not for commuting. Private seller.
