Transmission cannot get in gear 01 5 speed

01 5 speed Golf. Cannot get in gear. Shift lever moves around. Found white plastic pieces ontop of tranny. Think it was to connect the two shift arm together. Luckly moved levers around and got into 2nd to get home. Is there a kit of part number for that piece?

I don't know the part number off the top of my head, but I should have one floating around in the shop somewhere that I would sell cheap.

Just to go full circle I did get the plastic slider and once I disassembled the shift lever to install it I found the nut on the golf club chrome lever was loose. This caused the teeth on the lever to round out and the lever not to work properly. The tranny spline looks OK. That nut must have loosened up when I installed the short shift lever years ago. I guess I should have put lock tight on it. If I cannot find a used lever I guess I will have to get the new short shift kit.

I have a stock lever available if you're interested, and a selector shaft as well if the splines on yours are tooefed.
