Can I swap a Monsoon head unit for a Premium head unit

I have an '02 Golf with the DD Premium cd/cassette deck. Can I swap in a DD Monsoon deck or will I need the monsoon amp in order to power the speakers? Will the harness plug right in or is it wired different? I don't care about having the added quality of the Monsoon system I just want a replacement for my old deck because the display is messed up.

You can, but you need a vw specific harness. Check out crutchfield.com they will give u everything u need, you can even keep your steering wheel controls for a little extra moneys
