Need solution for bands around CV joint boot

I want to swap an outer CV joint. I don't have the replacement band or matching tool. Can you suggest something (that I could order?)

There is KD 424 tool, but no matching bands.
There is KD 3374, the OETIKER CLAMP PLIERS, but no band to go with..

arrgh.

Side rant: Why do VW dealers not carry the copper injector gaskets? Does this really need to be a special order item???

Cable tie? OEM for some brands of car, and if you hunt enough you can even find high-strength stainless ones too...

Bailing wire. It's like safety wire but much larger gauge and can be wound tight w/o breaking. LIke DPM said too, you can get zip ties rated for hundreds of pounds.

Go with the zip ties, get the ones that are about a 1/4 inch thick and 10 inches long.

You could mount a front bumper and rad to a 78 van with those (long story, cheap boss LOL)!!!
