Default AFN swap wonít start

Hi
Iíve recently converted my vw T3 from 1.6td to a AFN tdi.
Iíve got VCDS (Ross tech) and apart from not having the potentiometer and brake and clutch wires connected it will not start.
I had to remove the IP to adapt the block for the conversion
And timed it back up.
Iíve tried to vacuum fuel through to remove air in the fuel lines but still can see air between filter and pump.
When cranking Iím getting fuel through to injectors
White/dark grey smoke from exhaust
Good battery
New glow plugs
Good compression.
Also tried easy start

Any suggestions guys as Losing the will to live?
Thanks
Mark

12V at the cut off solenoid? Can you hear an audible snap from the solenoid when power is applied?

If no error codes are present in the ECU, and you didn't mess with the timing, I would strongly suggest that you have not bled all the air from the system.

Potentiometer off won't be the reason, will only raise idle.

What compression? Was timing double checked?

Instead of vaccum fuel, close all the lines, try to crank the engine with and injector open, as soon as it squirts, tighten it.

Hi yes timing triple checked
Compression ranging from 350-390 psi
Cranked many times and getting fuel through injectors pipes and closing whilst still cranking.
As soon as I stop cranking air runs back up the feed pipe 2-3Ē bubble.
Thanks

350psi seems a bit low, is the compression gauge any good?

put a low pressure fuel pump inline with the feed line to the fuel filter, crack the injector line nuts a bit and crank it over until fuel spurts out, tighten the line nuts and it should run

Would this be just to get it running or a permanent fixture?
Thanks

Edit: Re-read your post.

If you have smoke, you have fuel. Check mechanical timing and try advancing it.

Iíve checked the timing a couple of times
And I have the correct IP pin
To advance the pump would it just be moved via the bolts, twisting the pump away from the engine?
Sorry learning on the job
Thanks

Ok so twisted the pump towards the engine and after a few goes
It sprung into life (Hugh relief )
I donít think itís perfect and needs fine tuning but itís running
Thanks markd89
