AdBlue for 2012 Passat in Europe?

i think this is the correct place for this question. if not please relocate.

the 2012 north american passat tdi will require adblue to reduce nox emissions. (the new jetta with the same engine and virtually the same weight does not but that is a different question)

does the european version of the 2012 passat require adblue or similar?

how neprevalent is the need for adblue or similar in european vehicles?

Much better ie simpler than the Jetta emissions system. No doubt far cheaper for the longterm owner/buyer.

At most $20 every 10k for servicing.
