NEVER MIND-diagnosing drive shaft/transmission?
EDIT -- FIXED -- SEE BELOW
I have a 1996 GTI with a swapped-in 1Z TDI engine/manual transmission from a 1998 Jetta
I was taking off on an incline, and there was a bang noise, and the car would not go anymore. I could push in the clutch pedal and change gears.
At first I thought it was the clutch (because I was taking off on an incline) or that plastic piece in the shifter linkage. So I checked the car again yesterday, and I noticed that in any gear, the speedometer jumps up to 10-20 MPH. So this makes me think the clutch and transmission are fine?
The previous owner installed a Peloquin, which I think is a limited-slip differential.
Do my symptoms give anybody clues as to what failed?
Thanks in advance for any assistance
EDIT -- MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A BUSTED RIGHT <couldn't hear - shaft?>
