After having the starter replaced and some A/C work done on my ex's 2000 Jetta TDI, she noticed that this electrical connector was missing it's mate. I have no clue where the male end is!

What I'm referring to is directly under the text, coming out of some coolant hose. There is no code stored in the ECU regarding this...............THING.

So, *** is IT?!

BTW...This car has an 01M with 250,000 miles.

I have no idea what that is. My mother has a 2000 Jetta TDI too (a 5-speed) and I perform all its servicing/repair, and I do not recall seeing something similar on it. It must be unique to the automatics.

You're right about that Nate. I have a 2000 Golf manual and that thing is nowhere to be found.

That is what some early A4's used to turn off the Air Conditioner compressor for a hot engine, I think. Cars built before May of 99?

Later one's use the coolant temperature sensor via the ECUs.

Sounds plausible. Car was purchased in Nov 99. Thanks for responding.
