VW Passat Family (NMS and B7) TDIs (2012+) Discussion area for the 2012+ Passat TDI (North American and rest of world versions versions). The North American model was previously codenamed NMS (New Midsize Sedan) and the version the rest of the world gets is sometimes referred to as B7.

This winter was relatively light prior to this one storm. March brought more winter this year than Jan or Feb. That is, unfortunately, how it is here.

I'd say the Michelin is better all around tire. Quiet, balances easy etc.
I went Gas, but still VW and a Passat ! Remus Responder and VR6= TDI on steriods.

My car had cont's on it when I bought it. First thing I did is set toe to 0 both front and rear. After 20k miles, the wear is even. Conti's seem like an ideal tire for these cars provided you make the toe correction. With the toe settings as came from factory, I found the car sluggish in response and frankly unacceptable handling characteristics. After setting tow, castor and camber were spot on, wheras before they were't.
