Hi guys, looking at some PD Firad nozzles.
When they say plus 50's,80's etc what injectors are they comparing with? as you have PD 100,115,130,150 etc.
I know it's nozzle hole size and not flow but plus 50% on a PD 100 injector is not going to be the same as plus 50% on a PD130/150.

It look likes its based on ASLA150P1043 which is the nozzle we find in ASZ/ARL PD130/150 then HF (high flow) and the pourcentage

Thanks for your reply, if the size increase is based on 130/150 550's injector they will make more difference on my current 520's.

My van is currently smoke free and most uprated injectors I have seen leave a smoke trail behind them.

This is my current smoke level on OE 520's

As far as I can tell the OE 520's I have have a nozzle hole size of .19mm, the 130/150 550's have a .195mm nozzle hole size in comparison if my research is right.

I found an old post from Keith at United Diesels saying the Firad plus 50's have a .250mm nozzle hole size and plus 80's have a .280mm nozzle hole size.

As the plungers are set at 8mm are the pop pressures also set or can the pop pressures be adjusted to suite the bigger nozzles?

Hello I have 160 and is 160% more flow compared with PD 100 injectors. Before I have 130/150 AL injectors and if I decrease smoke limiter by 90% - its similary same lite smoking with AL PD 130/150

I was probably going to go Farid plus 50's, I have a 5cyl PD so 5 plus 50's should do 300-320hp

We have used the +50's with decent results. Fair warning that the cracks that happen between the injector bore and the intake seat are a hazard of high horsepower with the PD engine. We have heads that cracked all the way to the injector seal area from hight horsepower gains.

I have Festa's old T5 2.5PD head and all 5 cyls had cracked.
Do the 1.9's suffer with head cracking also?, do you think it's extra power thats producing more heat?

+50 its cca 10% more than AL 130/150 injectors. for me firad 160 rapidly decrease EGT temperature in higher rpm (injecting time more than 20 degrees) because injected time its about half time compared to 130/150. shorting injecting time decrease negative torque BTDC. For example injecting 80mg at 4000rpm inject start 16 degree BTDC and injection time its 32 degree. (injection ends 16degree ATDC). using firad 160 you start 9 degree BTDC and ends 7 degree ATDC. With same injecting fuel you increase torque and engine efficiency at 4000rpm. Why not stock its no firad? because its more expensive its special steel 19xxx with more precisely laser hole cut.
