CEL question

The orange check engine light came on my car today on a very short drive. I have looked through a number of past threads and on one thread someone said a longer drive may take care of the problem. That the regen did not cycle all the way through ? Others say it is probably a fuel sensor. I live out in the boondocks, will it hurt to drive it an hour and half to my guru Monday ?

I love this car and its been great. I am at 181,000 miles.

When mine came on it was my exhaust flap. However it could be any of a thousand things. Why guess? Find someone with a VCDS and get the code scanned. Stop guessing!

PS flashing light means stop immediately. Not flashing means you probably can drive it to the guru. Again this assumes you can't find a scanner and no drivability issues.

Thanks for the reply Skate, I don't know anyone down here who has a VCDS so I will call guru first thing Monday morning. The car is driving fine from what I can tell.

Just one warning. If it is the exhaust flap, you likely can't regenerate. That could take out your DPF if you go too long.

So I drove it this morning to go to my Saturday morning bike rid and light was off on the way back. Interesting ?
