More Questions... Alternator Interchangeability

Good Morning,
I apologize if this is a simple question I've searched the forums and can't see this question answered clearly so here it goes.

I'm in need of a new alternator for my 2004 Passat TDI.
Yes it's bad... it's got an OPEN circuit when measured at the slip rings.

Are the alternators for the B5 platform interchangeable?

Will one from a 1.8t Passat fit?
Or others?

It is a 120A unit, could be a Bosch or Valeo, both are interchangeable. Some of the VAG gas engines use them, but on transverse cars they use a wider pulley.

I'd just order a Bosch reman, and get a new INA pulley, and install that.

I'd love to be in a place where I can order a proper factory refurbished one. But sadly I'm not.
So now I'm looking for one from the local salvage yards... so selection is... iffy at best.

Altyernator may be the same, but the pulley may be different. Make sure you get a pulley removal tool.
