Gen 2 vs Gen 3 after emissions fix?

Anyone know the differences in performance, fuel economy, drivability, DEF use, and noise between Gen 2 and Gen 3 Passats? I would expect the Gen 3 would be better with its redesign. Makes me think about a buyback on my 14 Passat and buying a used and emission repaired 15. Guessing it may not be worth the added cost and hassle. Thanks.

We own a 13 and a 15. At least to me, the differences are slight enough to be irrelevant . . .

Two totally different engines, but similar fuel economy and performance from what anecdotal evidence I've seen here and from owners I know.
