How do I replace the cigarette lighter

I have a 2015 Passat TDI SEL Premium, and we need USB ports. I bought a nice 36w unit that is 18w ISB 3.0 and 18w USB Type C that I want to put where the factory lighter is below the radio. I have to pull the entire housing with the flip-up lid because it’s a marine-grade unit with a threaded nut on the back side. I can’t even get my cup holder housing to pull up from the center console to even begin to figure out how to get the small housing pulled out that I need to access. And of course, there are no YouTube videos that I could find to show me how to do it. I am concerned about breaking the cup holder panel since only the two clips closest to the radio are popping free.

It’s marine grade. Also requires the hole to be slightly enlarged. I put this in my 4Runner to use my iPad Pro 11 as a giant topography GPS and it works great.

Thanks! This will work for me. Going to do this this weekend. It may be easier to replace the socket in the armrest and keep the dual port converter plugged into the front port. And since I don’t mount my iPad as a GPS like I do in my 4Runner, it will still be accessible form the front seat.

Thanks again for that link! It definitely made it much easier to install the charger. Never would’ve figured it out on my own. Nice to be able to fast charge my iPad Pro.
