Hi guys I am installing pd150 head studs into my pd130 and was looking some advice.

The reason I ask is because the place were I bought my studs gave me different fitting instructions to what I have used before.

Previously I have done as follows one stud at a time method and and torqued each stud to 30nm or 22lbt roughly then once I had them all in I retorqued them to 60nm then 90nm then 90deg turn this method has worked without issues 5/6 times now.

Today when purchasing the studs the guy gave me the following instructions 1st stage 30nm 2nd stage 60nm 3rd stage 90 NM 4th stage wait 10min 5th stage slacken 1/4 turn 6th stage tighten to 90nm again and 7th stage 90deg turn.

I've not heard of this stage before and want to know if it's a better procedure to how I've been doing it all along.

Opinions very welcome.

Do you have problems with your studs?

I think there isnt much need to change the stock ones. I started tuning my PD130 10 years ago, and I have raced much with it. 190-250+hp an I have lost 0 coolant ar no any problems what so ever. Been using 2,4-2,5 bar boost for very long time.

I'm not having any problems at the moment but for all the cost of the upgrade it's a worth wile upgrade I'm planning on running 2.8/2.9bar on this setup I'm going to try ARL head studs before I invest in ARP ones it's only for 1/4 racing though

Studs or bolts? If you're just swapping out for the slightly stronger stock headbolts, you just do 60Nm then 2 lots of 90 degrees. Doing the bolts 1 by 1

Studs have no angles or 1/2 turn stuff, its strictly a torque setting.
